One of Napier Bowls aims when approaching Clever dog was to encourage young players to give bowls a go. That bowls was not just for the more mature age group and that is indeed both fun and social. Enjoyed on a lovely day with a few refreshments afterwards. The approved design has movement which excites and a tagline to match which appeals to all generations. This wasn't a radical redesign, the logo has just been modernised. Adding a subtle blue hint to the black and enriching the red., complimenting the blue/grey tagline. The bowl movement was emphasised more and the star icon associated with sports added. The logo has been spread over many mediums from flags, sports attire, traditionally hand painted building and main gateway, stationery etc.

The Boost Espresso owners requested that the look of their new brand should come across as timeless and well established even though it was new. The resulting design has a "retro" feel that gives the impression that it could have been around for decades. Job done!

The Tamatea Tavern asked Clever Dog to come up with both a new name and logo brand for the hotel that they were in the process of renovating. The premises are situated on York Avenue, Napier. That got us thinking about upmarket establishments in New York who people use their actual name as their company brand. Since they sell alcohol we came up with the idea of using the outlines of the bottles to make it look like the Manhattan Skyline with the reflection in the water mirroring the drink itself.

When we relocated our business to new premises in 2013, we approached 3 signwriting companies to provide a proposed concept for the signage. One company did nothing, another overlaid our existing logo onto a photo of the building and added some additional colour panels  – both of which were not satisfactory. However, Ethan and his team came up with a totally new concept, that did not finish at just the building signage . . . it was in essence a rebrand and the timing suited given the new site. Whilst it took me a while to get my head around the change, looking back, it was a great move that has lifted our profile and brought us a new exciting modern look. During the whole process, Ethan was up front and willing to listen and address my concerns and ideas.

We were approached by Cole to design a new brand for his motorcycle repair business venture. For inspiration we were given a logo that his grandfather used back in the day we set out to work our magic. The previous logo had used the typical wing style icon, which we stylised into exhaust pipes. Having kept the centred circle we designed the retro style skull which made the brand look like it had been around for a while. By keeping the logo in one colour, it has remained legible and uncluttered, a refreshing change to the busy look you usually see with bike shops. Petterson's now have a logo that reaches out to all types of bike riders of all ages. Since implementing this sharp new brand, the business has grown at a phenomenal rate, receiving rave reviews on a daily basis.
